Competition Adjudicator
Born 1990 in Toronto, Canada, Leonard Gilbert is renowned for his sensitive touch, insightful playing as well as technical command. In addition to being a four-time national first prize winner of the Canadian Music Competition, Leonard came to the attention of audiences after his sweeping win at the Third Canadian Chopin Competition (2010)- capturing First Prize as well as all special prizes-“Best Mazurka” and “Best Polonaise”. In addition to numerous other awards in Canada and abroad, Leonard qualified for the second stage and was the only Canadian accepted to the 16th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in 2011.
Adam Piotr Żukiewicz is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed concert pianist. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Toronto and Masters of Music degree from Indiana University. He has also studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK, and was a music scholar at the United World College of the Adriatic in Duino, Italy. His mentors and teachers include Arnaldo Cohen, Jerome Lowenthal, Vanessa Latarche, James Parker, Marietta Orlov, Dario de Rosa, Alberto Miodini, and Paweł Zawadzki.
